Banwell A 6 Long Ashton A 1
Banwell A made life hard for themselves in the first half of this match giving away possession in midfield too often. Charlie Camper deputized in goal and made some vital saves to deny Long Ashton. Banwell opened the scoring following a shot from Ben Tucker, which was steered towards the far post by Max Bretherton with a side foot, Luke Edwards followed this in and a tap in on the line made sure of the goal. Connor Burns and Jamie Jenkins both had spells in defence and midfield with great effect. A great pass from Taylor Aspinall released Max Bretherton, who rounded a defender, before beating the keeper with a solid shot. Billy Berry then threaded a great ball through to Max Bretherton who was taken down in the area. Ben Tucker stepped up and scored to extend the lead. Luke Edwards converted 2 more goals to give him a hat-trick on the day. Taylor Aspinall scored the final goal following some great build up play from Jamie Jenkins and Connor Burns. Banwell won 6-1.
The Cube @ Morse’s man of the match was awarded to Max Bretherton for some great skilful play.
Banwell B 2 Long Ashton B 1
Banwell B played well in this match creating lots of scoring opportunities for themselves. Sam White worked well in attack and was unlucky to see 3 shots hit the side netting. Banwell were awarded a free kick over near the corner flag, a great shot from Kaan Berk looped over the keepers head and in at the far post to level the score. Jack Partridge was in great form in goal and with the help of James Hart, Thomas Galliers and Ben Vernon they stopped Long Ashton from having any further shots. Luke Deverson made some great challenges in midfield along with some great crosses from Matthew Gilmore to set up a number of attacks. Steven Baker dominated the midfield play feeding a great ball into Sam White whose shot was parried by the Long Ashton keeper, only for Ryan Hastewell to follow up and slot the ball in at the far post to give Banwell a 2-1 win and secure 3rd place for Banwell in the Woodspring league.
The Cube @ Morse’s Man of the Match went Ryan Hastewell for a solid performance in midfield.
