Match Report - Saturday 26th April

Banwell A 4 Hutton Juniors A 2

Banwell A played host to Hutton in their last game of the season. Hutton started the brighter of the two and played some great passing football and, except for the alert Ross Exon in goal, would have taken the lead. Banwell settled down and started to take control of the play and pass the ball to great effect this led to Charlie Camper crossing the ball to Ben Meakin who struck it first time into the roof of the net. Jordan Robinsons quick thinking saw him play a short corner in to Charlie Camper who turned, ran towards goal and finished well. Banwell, who had defended so well through Connor Burns, Jamie Jenkins and Ben Vernon, lost possession in their own box and Hutton scored the goal they had been threatening. Banwell started the second half well and a great corner from Jordan Robinson found Ben Meakin in the box who scored his second. A long ball from Hutton cleared the Banwell defence and a one on one with the goalkeeper saw Hutton go round him and finish well. Banwell just had time for Connor Burns to clear a ball up field to Sam White who beat a player before passing the ball into the box for Ben Vernon to beat 2 players and fire the ball into the bottom corner and give Banwell a 4-2 win.

The Cube @ Morses man of the match went to Ben Meakin for some fantastic positional play and Connor Burns for some great man marking on Huttons key players.

Banwell B 1 Hutton Juniors B 3
Banwell B started brightly and passed the ball well using the wings to open up Huttons defence. Banwell opened the scoring following a great pass from Steven Baker that found Max Bretherton. Max turned and hit the ball on the half volley giving the keeper no chance and finding the back of the net to give Banwell the lead. The defence of Thomas Galliers, Matthew Gilmore and Ben Tucker in goal were then subject to a barrage of attacks from Hutton which lead to 3 quick goals, which Banwell had no response to. Banwell changed the team around at half time with Luke Deverson playing in midfield, Ben Tucker going into attack and Steven Baker going into goal. Banwell then turned the game around and the pressure was once again on Hutton, but, despite a number of shots from Ben Tucker and Max Bretherton, they failed to score. James Hart who played at the heart of the defence gave Hutton nothing in the second half and restricted any chances they might have had.

The Cube @ Morses Man of the Match went to James Hart for some great defensive play.
